Tomorrow we are off to Kendal...

I've still not moved yet, but we do move On Friday! A week to go and then I have my PC back and I can edit the blog and make the posts pretty, like they usually are. Tomorrow is the Lakeland and District Cat Club show in Kendal. It's a 2 hour drive so I'm hoping Monty doesn't Meow the whole way there like he did on the way to Saint Helens 2 weeks ago!

I'm hoping that we get great results tomorrow, I'd really like Deeks to do well and get some recognition but he seems to remain in his brothers shadow. His brother now weighs less than he does, Deeks is going to be a big boy when he gets older. I am told Norwegian Forest Cats don't fully mature till they are 5, so it will be interesting to see how both boys end up. They were 7 months old yesterday, they are getting naughtier by the second haha.

Show Season 2015/2016 has started!

On Sunday we went to our first show of the 2015/16 show Season at the Merseyside Cat Club Show in St. Helens. It was quite a small show as the show the previous week had been popular and with the GCCF rule of having a 13 day break between shows it made for a quieter show than the ones we have been to before.

The show hall was quite large, there were craft stalls as well as the usual cat related stalls which was nice to see. There were also places to sit, a bonus to the fewer cats which were showing there as there was space for tables/chairs to sit at. At this show, they have a "Best in Show Kitten" so that was really good and meant there were more kittens than you sometimes get at GCCF shows.

Monty and Deeks were their usual chilled out selves when we got them settled into their pens. We left them for the judging  and went for a coffee and breakfast. We  came back to some great results:

Noynarock Winter Valentine (Deeks)
Breed Class- 2nd.
Side classes- 2nd & 3rd.

Noynarock Scombrini (Monty)
Breed Class - 1st & BOB.
Side classes - 1st & 1st. and....
BEST OF VARIETY!

As he got BOV that meant he could go forward to the BIS kitten judging. There were 7 kittens in this and it was very close between the final 3. Monty just missed out by a whisker but came 2nd. Yes, the 2nd best kitten in the whole show. I am a proud cat mummy! I was very excited and streased while we were watching them judged him but it was really lovely seeing him being admired, and the crowd all "awww-ing" at home when they took him out of his carrier. We All went home smiling and really pleased.

I have packed my computer up as we are moving on the 18th June, so I am going to try my best to blog using my phone for now, which is broken so it's going to be fun! I can't figure out how to add my photos on my phone either so this may well be added later!

Bedford District Cat Club Show / Cambridgeshire Cat Club Show, 25th April 2015

Yesterday was the joint show between the Bedford District Cat Club and the Cambridgeshire Cat Club. It is the furthest we have traveled for a cat show and I think it was worth the drive because it was a lovely venue and I met some lovely people. The show was held at the Wood Greens Animal Shelter, they have a huge hall for shows, all sorts of shows, cats, antiques, weddings. Theres also a rehoming centre of cats, dogs and ferrets and they have pigs, horses, chickens, sheep, donkeys and possibly more that we didnt get to see.

We set off from our home at 5.30am and arrived at 8am, it was already quite busy but was to get much busier! Settled the kittens down for judging and went for breakfast and a coffee. When we came back we were pleased to find out the Breed Class results which were:

Bedford:
Noynarock Scombrini (Monty) 1st and BOB!
Noynarock Winter Valentine (Deeks) 2nd.

Camcat:
Noynarock Winter Valentine (Deeks) 1st and BOB!!!
Noynarock Scombrini (Monty) 2nd.

So our boys managed to get Best of Breed each! This is Deeks' first 1st and first BOB, we are so pleased for them both. Deeks also got a 2nd and 1st in his side classes, which was amazing too. Monty sadly didnt get a top 3 place for his side classes, which I was disappointed about at the time, but now Im so pleased that they both got BOB that the side classes dont really matter. Its so funny when it comes to judges personal preferences, usually Monty gets all the glory and Deeks goes into the background a bit, but this time Deeks did well and Monty didnt do as well. Its all down to personal tastes of judges and their take on the breeds standard of points. Onto the next one!

Where'd I go?

Its been a hectic few weeks for me, one thing or another, but here I am. I really want to either expand this blog to include more of my life, or just start a new blog entirely. I cant decide which is best for me. I only have the 17 blog posts on here, so it wouldnt be too difficult to include more things, but I wouldnt want to change the name of it as I have a few followers already.

In other kitten related news, we have a show on Saturday, the Bedford/Camcat show in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire. Im looking forward to it as we have a babysitter which makes it easier to concentrate on the cats and have a wander round, look at all the other cute cats at the show. Its a 2.5/3 hour journey, but it was the closest one, I didnt want to wait for the next show in June, I wanted to do another show sooner. Its funny, once you come home from a show, and you are sat at home with the cats as normal, you get the urge to do another show asap. Its a weird feeling, but you just want to enjoy the atmosphere, possibly win something and feel a sense of achievement again. Its definately addictive!

If I have a 2nd blog I will certainly have it as a 'sister' blog to this one and try and use this one for cats and the other for 'lifestyle' stuff. I'm thinking thats the way to go, I will have a brainstorm and think it through for the next few days and decide! I will not be getting rid of MCTP, I will either expand or have a 2nd blog :)

Thanks for reading, see you soon!

Top 5 Cat April Fool's Day Pranks From The Web

Yesterday was April Fool's Day and its now common-place to see companies and newspapers online trying to trick us on April 1st each year. It would appear I am quite gullable when it comes to these things and I did get caught out by a few things!

Here are some of the cat-friendly hoaxes from yesterday that I've come across:

1. The Voltron Cat Condo
A robot that your cats can sleep and play on, seems like a great idea for the 'geeky' cat lover in all of us.

2. Cat Chauffers from Grouber:

"Cats will be able to stare at over 13,000 fish in the Cat Aquarium"

The exterior is made from cardboard so your cats can scratch away to their hearts content, without ruining the upholstery! This one actually seems a really good idea!

5. Tablet browser for cats:

So there you have it, 5 of the best cat-related jokes from April Fool's Day! Did you get pranked? What happened? Tell me in the comments or on my Facebook/Twitter page!

The Preston and Blackpool Cat Club Show, 28th March 2015.

On Saturday we went to the Preston and Blackpool Cat Club show in Preston. It was Monty and Deeks' second show and they were really well behaved and slept most of the day or just sat very chilled out watching the people go past.

We met some new people and saw some people we had met at the last show, its a nice little group of people we are getting to know. The kittens were both entered in 6 classes all together and here's how they did:

Monty:
Kitten Breed Class - 1st and Best of Breed (BOB).
Misc: 1st, 1st, 3rd.

Deeks:
Kitten Breed Class - 3rd
Misc: 2nd, 2nd, 3rd.

It seems at the moment, Monty is our little champ, but different judges mean different results so I'm sure Deeks will sneak up on him soon enough. Im so proud of my babies, they are 4 and a half months old now and growing so much, they are almost the same size as Phoebe cat now!

We were meant to have a break now until June as there are no shows close by, but today we entered the Cambridge / Bedford cat show which is on 25th April! I really enjoy the shows, and Im sure the boys do too. Here's to getting more rosettes for our display!

MCTP Photo Challenge April 2015

The first MCTP photo challenge is starting on the 1st April. Photo challenges are all the rage these days, mainly on Instagram but also Facebook and Twitter. The basics of it are, you take a photo of something, usually in a theme, using the prompt for that day and post it on social media using specific hashtags. They are just for fun, and using a hashtag means everyone doing that specific challenge can find each other and share their photos along the way.

The More Cats Than People photo challenge is all about cats, obviously! I have made the following graphic showing all the prompts for the month of April. I would love it if you would share this on Instagram or other social media and then on Wednesday when April arrives, share your photos and use the hashtag #mctpphotochallenge.

I hope you will join in with this challenge and use the hashtag so I can share some of my favourite photos over the course of the month! Do you think you'll be joining in? Let me know in the comments!
